Pete Shemilt
With a 30-year career driving growth for international education businesses, Pete has held senior commercial roles in successful organisations with diverse models and audiences. Through strong strategic, operational, and leadership skills, he has a record of delivering growth and creating value for customers, business partners and shareholders.
Most recently, he was Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer for Sommet Education, a network of private higher education institutions, headquartered in Switzerland and with 18 campuses in Switzerland, Spain, France, UK, India and South Africa.
Previously, he was Group Sales and Marketing Director at Cambridge Education Group, playing a key role in its growth story. The business was sold by Palamon Capital Partners to Bridgepoint at an enterprise value of £185m, a 14.6x return on investment.
Pete started his career in educational publishing with ten years in international sales and marketing roles at Pearson Education, followed by 3 years at Cambridge University Press.
He holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literatures from the University of Hull.
In his spare time, Pete is a keen road cyclist, horse racing enthusiast, gig-goer and a season ticket holder at Liverpool Football Club.
